Job summary

Paducah Public Schools is seeking an Itinerant Tutor to travel to local shelters and provide after-school and summer programming for students residing in shelters.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction, maintaining an effective learning environment, and communicating progress to families and staff. Position is part-time, with pay determined by the McKinney-Vento grant and a two-hours-per-day, twice-weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• Holds bachelor's degree and Kentucky Department of Education certification for the assigned position.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students.
• Excellent communication with students, parents and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Instruct assigned classes and students in locations and times designated by the Homeless Liaison.
• Maintain a conducive classroom environment within district resources.
• Prepare tutoring sessions and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to location and student needs.
• Implement district educational goals and Kentucky Core Content for Assessment.
• Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Evaluate student progress and provide progress reports to parents as required.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Cooperate with staff to plan instructional goals and select materials.
