Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Yorktown, Virginia is seeking a Server to courteously serve resident and guest meals and help with dining room cleanup after service. You will assist residents with menu selections and provide beverage service.

The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work flexible evenings, weekends, and holidays. We offer 401k, full-time and part-time benefits, training, development, and a clear career ladder.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
• Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects.
• Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three hours at a time.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Serve resident and guest meals courteously and help with dining room cleanup and resetting.
• Assist residents when placing orders from the menu.
• Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk and coffee/tea).
• Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls before and after meals.
• Report broken equipment or tableware to supervisor.
• Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
• Possess basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.).
• Know proper food storage and labeling techniques.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
• Complete all other duties assigned.
• Assist with tray service.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
• Interact politely with residents, guests, co-workers and supervisors.
