Qualifications

• Valid Michigan driver's license and Chauffeur's license.
• A clean driving record with minimal to no points or recent suspensions.
• Must pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol screening.
• Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical or similar medical examination.
• Strong communication and patience with children.

Responsibilities

• Drive designated routes to pick up and drop off students at scheduled stops.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, lights, brakes, oil, and fuel) to ensure the van is in safe operating condition.
• Maintain order and discipline among passengers; report any behavioral incidents to school administration.
• Ensure all students are properly secured (seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair tie-downs where applicable) and follow emergency evacuation procedures.
• Keep the interior of the van clean and sanitized; report any mechanical malfunctions to the maintenance department immediately.
• Maintain accurate logs of mileage, fuel consumption, student attendance, and any incidents or delays.
• Maintain regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal and the Director of Transportation.
