Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Medicine.
• License to practice medicine in New Jersey as determined by the NJ State Medical Board.
• Thorough knowledge of general medicine and current diagnostic techniques.
• Five years of licensed practice in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve/deny medical absences for students and consult with the school nurse and staff.
• Apply district goals, establish policies, and implement practices.
• Ensure timely reports to Office of Health Services for action.
• Be available for conferences and necessary meetings.
• Conduct orientations and in-service trainings when needed.
• Maintain student records with confidentiality under HIPAA and FERPA.
• Coordinate joint investigations with other agencies as needed.
• Plan and organize work processes for reviewing student health issues.
• Coordinate student physical examinations for new enrollees, sports, and working papers.
• Review medical orders and advise the school nurse in consultation with physicians.
