Job summary

Duluth Public Schools is seeking a Nutrition Services Assistant at Ordean East Middle School to assist in meal preparation and service under the Site Manager and cooks charged with coordinating meal prep. The role involves setting up meals and maintaining sanitary conditions in preparation and serving areas, and assisting in tracking meals and food records with the cash register and food service computer.

Starting wage is $16.31/hr for 17.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, at a Duluth

Qualifications

• Physical ability to handle large quantities of food
• Freedom from contagious disease
• A combination of education and experience that may be accepted as equivalent by the Food Service Department
• Previous experience in the preparation, handling and servicing of large quantities of food is desirable
• Knowledge of the methods of preparing, cooking and serving foods in large quantities
• Knowledge of simple record keeping and accounting
• Knowledge of cleaning methods
• Knowledge of kitchen utensils and their uses
• Ability to get along with and to handle children
• Ability to maintain harmonious relations with co-workers and other school personnel
• Ability to read and write and to make simple arithmetic calculations
• Basic computer operations
