Job summary

Cumberland School Department is seeking a part-time School Department Courier to handle mail and IT equipment deliveries across eight district sites in Cumberland, RI. The role involves daily interoffice mail pickups, proper sorting by department, timely delivery to schools, and occasional driving to Town Hall and the Credit Union.

The courier must meet vehicle safety standards, maintain punctuality, and communicate effectively with staff.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Valid Rhode Island or Massachusetts Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Personal Liability Vehicle Insurance.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions.
• Capable of handling heavy boxes up to 30 pounds without assistance.
• Submit to a criminal background check (BCI).

Responsibilities

• To provide mail and computer equipment delivery and courier services for school sites and departments, throughout the District in addition to the Credit Union and Town Hall on an assigned route.
• Provides daily pickup and delivery of interoffice mail between the eight district schools, Town Hall, and the Cumberland Municipal Employees FCU.
• Separate, sort and distribute mail by department in the Admin Office area.
• Deliver mail to school buildings in a timely manner.
• Deliver and pick up chromebooks & other IT equipment.
• Demonstrate initiative in performance of assigned responsibilities.
• Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
