Job summary

The West Burlington Independent School District is seeking a part-time Custodian (25 hrs/week). First shift, part-time - no benefits. Maintenance experience preferred.

Duties include cleaning, setup for events, and ensuring safety of school facilities. Requirements include a valid driver’s license and a clean background check; apply with a completed application to the district contact.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable.
• Iowa Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure building at beginning and end of shift for safety and cleanliness.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas to district standards.
• Sweep, mop, buff, strip, and wax floors.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Removes graffiti, cleans glass areas.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms.
• Cleans snow from entrances and walks and spreads sand/ice melting chemicals.
• Performs grounds-keeping duties and maintains grounds.
• Receives deliveries and assists in unloading trucks and storing supplies.
• Delivers supplies to classrooms, bathrooms and other areas.
• Empties wastebaskets; recycles where applicable.
