Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is recruiting Traffic Control Officers to provide protection for pedestrians crossing roadways enroute to and from school and to assist school traffic.

This is a part-time, non-sworn position. Completion of the twelfth grade and a valid driver’s license are required; pre-employment polygraph/CVSA tests and background checks apply.

The selection process includes a panel interview and drug screen; the City is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass polygraph and CVSA tests as part of pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Direct pedestrians across streets after assessing traffic flow.
• Explain crossing rules to students to ensure safety.
• Coordinate with officials to develop safe traffic patterns.
• Maintain crossing areas and use signals, lights, flags, and hand signals.
• Identify unsafe driving behavior and report to authorities.
• Prepare for pre-employment checks and related procedures.
