Job summary

The City of Lawrence is hiring School Crossing Guards for the 2026–2027 school year. These part-time, temporary roles involve directing children and traffic at school crossings to ensure safe passage to and from school.

Locations include 9th & Schwartz, Law Avenue & Princeton, and 27th & Louisiana. Approximate schedules are mornings and afternoons. Requires passing a background check and maintaining availability through May 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be in good physical condition and able to stand for extended periods in all weather.
• Must pass City background check prior to start.
• Must be available to work until end of May 2027.
• Prefer prior experience interacting with children in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Direct children and manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic at school crossings.
• Monitor crossings at designated locations and ensure safe passage for students.
• Work part-time, with specific morning and afternoon shift patterns, through May 2027.
