Job summary

Buena Vista Elementary School in Colorado Springs seeks a part-time Crossing Guard to assist students crossing streets at an assigned post. Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with students, parents and the public.
• Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and the community.
• Ability to identify and respond to safety and disciplinary issues.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Report daily to the designated post with proper equipment (stop sign, vest, whistle).
• Direct traffic and supervise students crossing crosswalks to ensure safety.
• Monitor student behavior and report issues to the Principal.
• Maintain contact with Principal and local police as required.
• Escort students and the public across streets only when safe to do so.
