Job summary

Kern High School District at Golden Valley High School is seeking an entry-level food service assistant to support cafeteria operations from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for nine and a half months annually, under supervision assisting in food preparation and service while maintaining clean, sanitary facilities.

Starting salary is $1,055.93 per month. No prior experience required, though some food prep experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Ability to follow safety and sanitation requirements.
• Ability to learn to operate nutrition services appliances safely.
• Read at a level sufficient to perform duties.
• Meet physical requirements and perform routine math calculations.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of food items in a school cafeteria or central kitchen.
• Maintain nutrition services equipment and facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
• Perform entry level, routine, and manual food preparation tasks.
