Job summary

Perrysburg Exempted Village School District is seeking a qualified school bus driver to transport pupils safely within Ohio regulations and Board policies.

Responsibilities include safety checks, pre-trip inspections, maintaining routes and schedules, and ensuring student safety on every trip. Requires CDL and a high school diploma; annual physicals and state training are required.

The position offers 4 hours per day (AM and PM shifts) at $23.56 per hour, with equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver's license with CDL endorsement and bus certificate.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meets Ohio Department of Education and district policy requirements.
• Completes pre-employment driver training and basic bus education program.
• Physically qualified by annual physical examination.
• Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
• Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
• Good health, high moral character and good attendance record.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm to aid all students.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety checks before each run and report any issues.
• Board the bus 15 minutes before morning departure; 5 minutes before afternoon departure.
• In cold weather, warm up engine gradually and ensure windows and mirrors are clear.
• Complete pre-trip inspection of headlights, tires, gauges, lights, horn, wipers, etc.
• Report equipment malfunctions to bus mechanics via Frontline/AESOP.
• Maintain safe operating conditions and cleanliness of the bus.
• Maintain pupil control and report violations to transportation supervisor.
• Maintain routes, stops and time schedules; suggest improvements with supervisor approval.
• Report hazardous conditions along the route to supervisor.
• Follow approved procedures for reporting accidents and complete forms.
• Be present or available at all bus driver meetings and in emergencies.
• Notify supervisor in case of illness to secure a substitute driver.
• Promote good public relations by appearance and demeanor.
• Share responsibility for driving for school events or field trips.
• Conduct a minimum of three rear door emergency evacuation drills per year.
• Attend one annual inservice program.
• Prepare reports, route maps, schedules and accident reports as required by state and board.
• Brief passengers on safety protocol.
• Do not leave loose items on the bus.
