Responsibilities

• Assist customers with purchases in a friendly and courteous manner, including greeting customers, providing product information, using suggestive selling techniques, accurately ringing up purchases, accepting payment, giving change, and providing courtesy services.
• Serve as first point of contact for customer concerns, proactively listen, resolve complaints to the best of your ability, and refer situations outside your control to a supervisor or manager promptly.
• Maintain the company image inside and outside the building through housekeeping duties such as stocking, facing, cleaning, and ensuring company standards are met. Check in, price, and stock merchandise as assigned. Wear the company approved uniform and name tag at all times.
• Comply with all procedures for handling, controlling, and accounting for company monies, merchandise, food & beverage, gasoline, and lottery. Display highest integrity and comply with security procedures.
• Maintain food service programs where applicable: product handling, operating procedures, quality control, sanitation, merchandising, routine equipment maintenance. Prepare food neatly, accurately, and timely. Restock items and explain menu items accurately to guests.
• Adhere to all laws, regulations, and policies affecting operations (alcohol, tobacco, lottery, government assistance programs, sanitation, food handling, gasoline, perishables), ensuring safety precautions and procedures are observed and quality standards and food safety requirements are met.

Requirements

• Must be 18 or older.
• Must be able to work opening shift, evenings, weekends, and fill in shifts when needed.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a food service sanitation certificate.
• Ability to acquire a village retail sales liquor certificate.
• Earn and maintain petroleum Class C operator license.
• Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions.
• May be required to work occasionally at varying heights.
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk in store, bend, stoop, kneel regularly; fine finger and hand coordination.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, twist, turn, bend; reasonable accommodation may be considered.
• Must use proper lifting technique and ergonomics.
• Dress appropriately and maintain grooming standards.
• Be familiar with spill prevention procedures and quickly terminate product flow with emergency shut‑off switches if necessary.

Work Schedule

A retail team member position at Consumers Cooperative is an hourly position. Part‑time team members will work a maximum of 28 hours per week.
