Job summary

Smart & Final in Turlock, California is hiring a Part-time Retail Associate to stock shelves, assist customers, and maintain orderly store operations. Starting rate is $16.90 per hour for this part-time position in a fast-paced grocery warehouse setting.

You will handle pricing, shelf maintenance, basic register tasks, and help customers with their shopping. Lifting up to 60 pounds is required as part of store duties.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, interact with general public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information to customers and employees.
• Apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift/move up to 25 lb, frequently up to 45 lb, occasionally up to 60 lb.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise.
• Assure proper pricing and rotation, stock shelves and displays.
• Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in store and parking areas.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable and courteous assistance to customers.
• Load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties for lost/damaged goods and store supplies.

The Opportunity

The Part-time Retail Associate performs management-assigned duties, which may include but may not be limited to, stocking and maintaining a store section, carry-out services and store cleaning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment (excluding power/heavy equipment)
• Assures proper pricing on merchandise, checks product date codes to validate proper rotation, stocks shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepares perishable products for sale as needed
• Sets up advertising/promotional displays
• Cleans and maintains sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of store and parking lot as directed by store management
• Offers friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers by providing them with current store and product information
• When requested, loads customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles
• Performs basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools
