Job summary

New North Citizens’ Council is seeking a Part-Time Respite Worker in Springfield, MA to deliver individualized and group respite services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, under the DDS guidelines. You'll support safe community participation and provide families with dependable respite.

You will coordinate with the Respite Coordinator, document weekly services, maintain confidentiality, and participate in training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Ability to work independently with reliability, patience, and compassion.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license or access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and group respite services in community-based settings.
• Assist individuals to participate in recreational, social, educational, and other community activities.
• Provide person-centered support based on each individual’s interests, abilities, needs, and goals.
• Promote independence, positive social interaction, and community inclusion.
• Model and reinforce positive behavior and appropriate social skills.
• Recognize and respond to individual health, behavioral, and safety needs.
• Provide transportation to approved activities and locations as required.
