Job Description and Position Requirements

The dairy nutrition research laboratory of Dr. Alex Hristov is seeking an undergraduate student to fill a part-time research support position.

Responsibilities

• Weigh cattle refusal feed, collect feed samples, and assist graduate students in their research trials with other sample collection (fecals, urine, blood, rumen contents, etc.).
• Assist with sample processing in the lab (drying samples, grinding using a Wiley Mill, weighing samples, and after training, help run various sample analyses).
• General care and cleaning of the lab and research areas.
• Provide assistance during sampling that can occur at any hour; responsible for at least one early morning refusal shift per week (5 AM) and up to two weekend days per month.

• Undergraduate student; experience with cattle or other livestock preferred but not required.
• Detail-oriented, motivated, capable of working independently.

Hours

• Flexible (up to 24 hours/week) with specific shift requirements as above.
