Qualifications

• Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in religious studies or closely related field.
• ABD or Master’s with commensurate teaching experience (5–7 years).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching religious studies at the college level.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with inclusive pedagogy (preferred).
• Experience teaching a diverse population of undergraduate students (preferred).
• Previous experience teaching U.S. Hispanic Theology and/or Christian History (preferred).
• Familiarity with Santa Clara University’s Jesuit Catholic mission and identity (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach up to two courses in any quarter and up to four courses per academic year.
• Provide timely feedback on assignments and assess student work.
• Hold regular weekly office hours on campus.
• Submit accurate grades by Registrar deadlines.
• Administer course evaluations.
• Develop syllabi for assigned courses or coordinate with the Chair for approval.
