Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited program.
• Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) certification.
• Washington CD eligibility or eligible before start.
• Behavioral health or eating disorder experience preferred.
• Clinical hospital/inpatient experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients and teams.
• Ability to work autonomously across two campuses and manage time effectively.
• Reliable transportation for travel between Kirkland and Everett campuses.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients identified at nutritional risk.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized, evidence-based nutrition care plans for patients with psychiatric and co-occurring conditions.
• Address nutrition concerns in behavioral health, including medication-related weight changes and metabolic risk.
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients, individually and in groups.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and other treatment team members to optimize outcomes.
• Review therapeutic diet orders and coordinate with food service to meet patient needs and standards.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards (e.g., TJC, CMS).
• Maintain thorough electronic medical record documentation.
• Serve as a nutrition expert and resource for hospital staff.
• Perform other tasks as assigned within scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients identified at nutritional risk, adhering to facility policies and procedures
  
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized, evidence-based nutrition care plans for patients with psychiatric and co-occurring medical conditions
  
• Address nutrition concerns common in behavioral health, including medication-related weight changes, metabolic risk, disordered eating, and substance use recovery
  
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients, individually and in groups, to support recovery and discharge planning
  
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team to optimize patient outcomes
  
• Review therapeutic diet orders and collaborate with food service to ensure meals meet patient needs and regulatory standards
  
• Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and regulatory standards (e.g., TJC, CMS)
  
• Maintain thorough and timely electronic medical record documentation
  
• Serve as a nutrition expert and resource for hospital staff, contributing to staff education
  
• Perform other tasks as assigned and within scope of practice as needed
  

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited program
  
• Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD/RDN)
  
• Washington State Certified Dietitian (CD), or eligible to obtain before start
  
• Behavioral health, psychiatric, or eating disorder experience preferred
  
• Clinical experience in a hospital or inpatient setting preferred
  
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients and interdisciplinary teams
  
• Ability to work autonomously, manage time across two campuses, and prioritize effectively
  
• Reliable transportation for travel between the Kirkland and Everett campuses
