Job summary

Springbrook NY, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist with leisure and recreational opportunities for residential school students. You will work with a recreation therapist to implement meaningful activities and field trips, and provide direct care as scheduled.

Flexible hours and the ability to drive agency vehicles are required, along with implementing service plans. To protect the safety of the individuals we support, new employees must be current on all recommended vaccinations,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; some college credits or an associate degree preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Flexible schedule required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs independently and assist with heavier weights.
• Must meet requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles.
• Ability to perform all required physical interventions.

Responsibilities

• Implement recreational opportunities for students under direction of Recreation Therapist.
• Provide evidence of activities and feedback to parents and/or Springbrook (photos, art samples, etc.).
• Provide programmatic and staffing support to students in a variety of settings; implement service plans including IPOP, Mealtime plan, Behavior plan.
• Earn and maintain specialty trainings to safely support student access to leisure opportunities (e.g., Epi-Pen, VNS, SCIP-R).
• Set up special activities aligned with themes, holidays, and events.
• Serve as a DSP when necessary.
• All other duties assigned.
