Job summary

Mecklenburg County is seeking a Part-Time Recreation Assistant to join our Park & Recreation Team. The position will oversee facility rentals, provide customer service, assist with event setup and breakdown, and support hands-on programming for all ages throughout the year.

Based at Naomi Drenan Recreation Center, the role works up to 19 hours weekly and may include afterschool shifts starting at 3:00pm, with possible evenings and weekend work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, website, social media and walk-in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
• Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
• Enforce rules and regulations
• Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
• Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
• Referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or lineperson at games
• Assist with various recreational programs for all ages
• Handle inquiries and complaints from public
• Assist with special events and field trips
