Job summary

Els for Autism is seeking a Recreation Program Assistant to support participants in their recreation programs on a 20-hour workweek, Monday–Friday 1–5 PM, with possible longer hours during camps. You will assist with activities, meals, and daily living tasks, under the supervision of experienced staff.

Ideal candidates will have a HS diploma or GED, 1–2 years experience with autism or developmental disabilities, and BLS/CPR certification or the ability to obtain.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of paid experience with children, youth and/or adults with autism or developmental disabilities.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification or ability to obtain.
• Screening through the Clearinghouse per program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervision and coaching of program participants.
• Assist participants during activities using verbal instruction, demonstration, modeling, and hand over hand assistance.
• Assist participants with activities of daily living including meals, snacks, and personal care.
• Actively participate in all indoor and outdoor recreation, sports, and fitness activities.
• Maintain knowledge of program participants medical, physical, communication and behavioral needs.
• Assist with drop off and pick up of program participants.
• Follow safety procedures and report safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Provide supervisor with feedback about activities.
• Assist with setup/tear down/cleanup of spaces.
