POSITION TITLE: PART-TIME READ 180 INSTRUCTOR
REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL/OFFICE OF SECONDARY ENGLISH
OVER-TIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY: PER HOUR
This is a part-time (29 hours per week) position that will work under the supervision of the school principal and the Office of Elementary English. The Read 180 Instructor is responsible for implementing literacy intervention instruction for students. As determined by identified student needs, this individual will be assigned to work with multiple small groups of students. Ongoing professional development will be an integral part of this position.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; ability to maintain confidential files and information and to compile reports; ability to deal effectively with students and teachers; skill in the use of classroom and instructional equipment; ability to operate audio visual, standard office, word and data processing equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and the general public.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, walking, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional standing, stooping, crouching, and kneeling. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds rarely. Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedules. Applicants must possess either of the following: an associate’s degree or 48 semester credit hours (2 years) at an accredited college or university, or have successfully passed the ParaPro exam (score of at least 455) and have experience teaching reading/working with student reading groups at the elementary level.
