Qualifications

• Must possess a PA State Board of Examiners License.
• Must have Pennsylvania Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner licensure.
• Requires Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner certification.
• Degree from an accredited Dental Hygienist Program.
• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of dental equipment and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and cares for teeth within standard dental care guidelines.
• Provides oral health education to patients.
• May perform approved preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants.
• Advises patients on proper home care and treatment of teeth and gums.
• Takes and develops radiographs.
• Maintains accurate records of services and communicates with the health care team.
• Assists the dentist in clinic procedures and systems.
• Performs supply inventories and manages inventory.
• Ensures proper cleaning, packing and storage of supplies and instruments.
• Adheres to clinic safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
