Job summary

Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, seeks a Registered Nurse to join our team. You will provide and coordinate care, develop nursing care plans, and educate patients and families on health conditions in a supportive, team-based environment.

The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and a current RN license. One year of nursing experience, CPR and de-escalation training, and a willingness to work in behavioral health are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment.
• One year of nursing experience; psychiatric/behavioral/substance use experience is a plus.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical and behavioral health needs and coordinate care.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various conditions.
• Provide nursing care and services per state regulations and facility policies.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed correctly.
• Assess patient status continuously and document updates.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status.
• Complete admission and discharge processing.
• Demonstrate therapeutic rapport and professional boundaries.
• Coordinate unit activities as directed.
• Communicate professionally with patients, visitors and staff.
