Job summary

Music Ministry International seeks a Protestant Religious Education Coordinator for a part-time role at Whiteman AFB Chapel. The position oversees K-3 religious education programs, Vacation Bible School, and associated activities in an ecumenical base program.

The coordinator will plan curricula, coordinate volunteers, manage a year-long budget, and ensure compliance with security and background-check requirements. On-site duties support base worship and education initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to work with others in an ecumenical and public forum.
• Minimum of eight (8) hours per week, may adjust with approval from RE Chaplain.
• Coordinate use and security of facilities during programs/events.
• Explicitly state OPSEC responsibilities per AFI 10-701 for contracted activities.
• Any adult workers (18+) must complete federally mandated background checks (NACI/IRC).

Responsibilities

• Develop yearly religious education program for pre-K to 3rd grade (Children’s Church, VBS, classes).
• Develop annual budget for religious education needs (Oct 1–Sep 30).
• Recruit and train teachers and substitutes; ensure background checks on file.
• Attend monthly Parish Advisory Council meetings and provide reports.
• Prepare publicity for base paper, bulletins, electronic media, posted two weeks in advance.
• Submit fund/purchase requests to Chaplain at least two weeks prior to purchases.
• Submit facility requests four weeks in advance for chapel events.
• Coordinate VBS with Protestant and, if applicable, Catholic RE Coordinators; ecumenical efforts.
• Maintain participant information with PII safety per policy.
• Arrange substitutes in absence; ensure approvals and background checks on file.
• Ensure RE workers are aware of local safety requirements.
