Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College invites applications for a part-time, temporary role in the Academic Support Center. The tutor will provide learning support, reinforce courses, and coach students in multiple subjects, while performing front desk duties as needed.

Responsibilities include attending CRLA training, maintaining TutorTrac records, and coordinating with staff. Candidates should indicate two tutoring subjects and submit required documents; background checks apply.

Qualifications

  • Earned an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
  • Please indicate at least two subject areas in which you can tutor.
  • Please have your instructor send the letter of recommendation.

  • Have a willingness to work well as a team member with our population of students, staff, faculty, and community members.

  • Communicate with supervisory personnel and instructors as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff when visiting classes/offices on behalf of the ASC.
  • Ability to work with in-house reference library including checking in and out textbooks, materials, etc.
  • Ability to assist students in troubleshooting computer-related questions, such as emails, course management systems, and basic computer usage.

Job Summary

This is a part-time, temporary position in the Academic Support Center. Southwest Tennessee Community College aims to employ part-time/professional tutors to provide learning support, course reinforcement, and coaching to students in one or more of the qualified subject areas. Minimum Qualifications
  • MUST NOT BE A CURRENT SOUTHWEST STUDENT.
  • Earned an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
  • Please indicate at least two (2) subject areas in which you can tutor.
  • Please have your instructor send the letter of recommendation to asc@southwest.tn.edu
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, or online tutoring.
  • Answer questions relating to course content and offer study strategies to empower student success.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to work well with peers, staff, and faculty.
