Smurfit Westrock has part-time positions available for students interested in learning corrugated packaging operations. Learn our safety, quality & production culture as part of a machine team. Full-time opportunities after you graduate may include supervisor training & maintenance tech training programs! $22 an hour to start, qualified machine operators make up to $28.48 an hour.

Our Production Team members will safely perform a wide range of tasks, conducting quality checks, material set-up, machine set up and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, attendance, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex high powered machinery.

We offer flexible hours, Saturdays are required. Most openings are on first shift.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

• We will train you to operate our corrugator & converting machines to produce corrugated packaging.
• You will learn to perform routine maintenance on the machine & adjust the machine settings to achieve the desired dimensions and quality of the corrugated products.
• Inspect the corrugated products for defects and take corrective actions as needed.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals are met safely with quality products.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
• Keep your work area clean and organized.
• Assist with other tasks as needed, such as loading and unloading materials or operating other machinery & mentoring new team members.

What You Need To Succeed

• Hablamos Español! Basic English required for this part-time role
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and work in a fast-paced environment. Our facility is not climate controlled. You may work up to 12-hour shifts if OT is necessary. Attention to detail, able to read a tape measure & ability to identify product defects.

The pay rate for this position is $22.02 per hour, depending on your role, level, and location. This is a part time role and benefits are not offered for temporary/part time roles. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
