Job summary

Salt Lake Community College (UT) seeks a part-time caregiver/educator for Eccles Lab School. You will provide care and learning experiences for preschool children, ensuring a safe environment and planning activities aligned with development goals.

You will collaborate with lab students, communicate with families, and maintain cleanliness. Qualifications include a CDA or AA in EC, and experience in a licensed program; background checks and required trainings apply.

Qualifications

• Exhibits social maturity, endurance and emotional stability to lead preschoolers.
• Background checks required; no crimes against children.
• TB health eval, health permit, CPR/First Aid, and background screening.
• Provide two non-family references to vouch for integrity and stability.
• Be prepared for 20 hours of in-service training annually.
• Develop strategies for effective program operations.
• Complete classroom documentation and needs.
• Maintain professionalism and ongoing learning.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service sessions.
• Assist in writing newsletters and communications.
• Adhere to Utah licensing and NAEYC standards.
• Communicate well with diverse people and backgrounds.
• Work with diverse groups including students, faculty, staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide part-time care and education for Eccles Lab School children.
• Establish a safe, healthy classroom & playground environment.
• Plan and direct classroom and playground activities.
• Prepare weekly lesson plans and daily setup.
• Support children's development: social, emotional, cognitive, physical.
• Assess development to set individual goals and daily activities.
• Observe and record developmental behavior.
• Mentor lab students to model teaching techniques.
• Build relationships with families and conduct parent-teacher chats.
• Ensure classroom and playground cleanliness and upkeep.
