Job summary

CFP Board in Washington, DC is offering a part-time internship (10-15 hours per week) to support the public relations and social media team in promoting CFP Board and CFP certification among financial planners, the public, the media, and key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will combine creativity with an analytical mindset to deliver results, with prior content creation experience and strong writing skills.

Qualifications

• Current college student majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism.
• At least one prior internship or campus leadership role involving content creation, writing or club communications is highly preferred.
• Experience with major social media platforms (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit).
• Video editing experience a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to convey complex information accurately and concisely in an understandable manner.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including ability to work collaboratively and establish strong working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
• Self-motivated, problem-solver with ability to develop alternative solutions.
• Capability to manage multiple projects and calendars.

Responsibilities

• Check the news, industry trends, and competitor pages daily to share updates with the team.
• Track online financial planning topics and compile lists of trending conversations and reporters/media outlets.
• Help compiling the weekly media clippings, summarizing and formatting for distribution in HubSpot.
• Help write social media copy, draft and edit press releases, talking points, video scripts and PR materials.
• Assist with video editing and multimedia production.
• Support cross-functional projects and organizational events.
• Assist with drafting media pitches for major organizational projects, reports, and research publications.
• Update media contact database and organize files.
• Prepare presentations/reports for staff, as needed.
• Draft talking points, compile research and log post-interview feedback.
• Assist with project tasks and deliverables from external agencies.
• Perform other department duties as assigned.
