Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Part-Time Physical Therapist (24 hours weekly) for the Day Shift (Friday – Sunday). You will provide patient care using physical agents and therapeutic exercise under the guidance of a qualified physician, with independence within hospital policy and program guidelines.

Responsibilities include evaluations, plans of care, and discharge planning with the care team, while maintaining patient confidentiality and communicating with treating physicians.

Qualifications

• Certificate, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physical therapy.
• In-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to varied conditions.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Iowa.
• Obtain CPR certification within six (6) months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Performs evaluations and treatments to a diverse patient population.
• Establishes and reviews plan of care, goals and discharge needs with the team.
• Complies with ethics, legal issues and supervisory relationships.
• Communicates with referring physician regarding patient treatment plan and progress.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
