Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Technician certificate preferred.
• Without certificate must have completed a hospital or major lab training program.
• 2 years proven experience as a phlebotomist.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
• Knowledge of safety and aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients accurately using a wristband, documents or known visual identification.
• Receive assignments, assemble supplies and equipment required for specimen collection.
• Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health, etc.
• Draw blood using proper equipment and techniques.
• Label test tubes correctly and send or deliver them for testing.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and safety standards.
