Job summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the hospital pharmacy operations in Atlanta, GA. Under supervision of a registered pharmacist, you will procure, prepare, package, distribute and dispose medications and supplies to ensure quality patient care.

You will maintain inventory, follow USP/DEA/FDA guidelines, operate automation, verify pharmacist outputs, keep patient records, and assist with training and department tasks in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program or enrollment in a professional-related school preferred.
  • 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician or completion of ASHP-accredited tech training program preferred.
  • Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.
  • Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, procures, prepares, packages, distributes, and disposes medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Maintains inventory and re-orders items to ensure immediate availability.
  • Follows USP, DEA, and FDA guidelines when repackaging and compounding products.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, monitors, and cleans departmental automation and equipment.
  • Ensures pharmacist product verification and timely distribution of medications.
  • Maintains accurate records and patient profiles including charging and crediting.
  • Responds to customer needs by answering calls, messages, and triaging requests.
  • Manages time and prioritizes tasks for timely, safe patient care.
  • Assists with housekeeping and disinfection standards; maintains work area.
  • Conducts quality assurance inspections focusing on product integrity and expiration.
  • Follows OSHA, USP, and EPA guidelines for handling hazardous and non-hazardous products.
  • Participates in professional activities to stay updated on trends and practices.
  • Completes required training and competency assessments; attends in-services.
  • Assists in orientation and training of new personnel.
  • May serve as a resource for less experienced staff with technical information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
