Job summary

Voluntary Action Center of Northern Illinois is seeking part‑time Vehicle Operators in Yorkville, IL to provide paratransit, flex‑route, and park & ride services. The role supports daily essentials like medical appointments and groceries, emphasizing dignity and independence for clients.

Ideal for those with transportation/public service experience, capable of lifting mobility devices, and committed to safety. Hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with 20–29 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate agency vehicles under various road and weather conditions.
• Assist passengers boarding, riding, and exiting vehicles.
• Secure mobility devices and provide passenger assistance as needed.
• Communicate with dispatch regarding routes and passenger movement.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain accurate logs (trips, mileage, fuel, fares, and hours).
• Deliver excellent customer service while representing VAC’s mission and values.
