Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Part Time Paramedic for the Scottish Rite Emergency Department. The role requires 24 hours per week or two 3:00 PM–3:00 AM shifts, working within an interdisciplinary team to provide safe patient care under licensed supervision.

Requirements include a Georgia Paramedic license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS within set timelines, plus 2 years of patient care experience. This position supports quality improvement and department goals in a busy ED setting.

Qualifications

• Must meet Georgia continuing education requirements as outlined by Georgia Code 3, 31-11-58.1 and DHR regulations for paramedics.
• 2 years of experience in patient care.

Job Description

We are looking for a Part Time Paramedic, 24 hours/week or 2 shifts/week - 3:00PM-3:00AM for our Scottish Rite Emergency Department.

Functions as member of interdisciplinary team, including organizing and providing quality patient care services. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. For paramedics working inside the hospital, care is delivered under the supervision of a licensed professional.

Experience

• Must be in compliance with state continuing education requirements as outlined by Georgia Code 3, 31-11-58.1 and DHR regulations for paramedics
• 2 years of experience in patient care

Preferred Qualifications

• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians

Certification Summary

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment or at time of offer if working in the Emergency Department
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of employment
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 90 days of employment (transport paramedics)
• Eligibility to operate Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta vehicles as described in Policy 5-12 Drivers’ Policy for Children’s Owned Vehicles (transport paramedics)

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Competencies as defined by department must be completed within six months of employment
• Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment
• Adheres to physical fitness requirements for rotor wing or fixed wing providers if participating in air transport (transport paramedics)

• May perform as team leader and assist in delivery of patient care using age and developmentally appropriate interventions according to individual licensure, departmental protocols, and standards of care.
• Prioritizes and delivers dependable, effective patient care consistently in a variety of patient situations.
• Demonstrates five rights of medication administration within scope of practice.
• Manages time effectively.
• Evaluates patient response to interventions and adjusts plan of care.
• Completes competencies and maintains educational development.
• Achieves 75% attendance at staff meetings.
