Job summary

City of North Liberty is seeking a Part Time Paid Per Call Firefighter to join the North Liberty Fire Department. The PPC firefighter will respond to calls for service, assist with public education and community outreach, perform station duties and participate in training.

Overnight shifts and emergency response are required, with physical and safety standards enforced by the department. Required certifications include Firefighter I, Haz-Mat Operations, EMT, and NIMS IC 100/200 and IS 700 within

Qualifications

• Must possess or obtain Firefighter I within one year of hire.
• Must obtain Haz-Mat Operations within one year.
• EMT certification within 30 months or per department plan.
• Completion of NIMS IC 100, IC 200 and IS 700 within one year.
• Firefighter II is recommended for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Respond to calls for service, deliver public education and community outreach, perform station duties and training.
• Read, understand, implement and enforce city policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
• Prepare incident reports and other fire department reports.
• Operate computers and email, coordinate with officers and other firefighters.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents and apply appropriate firefighting/remediation methods.
• Perform equipment maintenance and cleaning after calls; attend required trainings.
