Qualifications

• Pharmacist degree with Michigan licensure requirements.
• Experience counseling patients and reviewing medications for safety.
• Familiarity with hospital/pharmacy operations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, interprets, and fills prescriptions and checks for allergies or interactions.
• Verifies orders with physicians and notifies of dosage or contraindication issues.
• Provides technical/clinical information to physicians, nurses and staff.
• Prepares IV medications and checks dose accuracy and compatibility.
• Oversees technicians in unit dose and IV additive tasks to ensure accuracy.
• Prepares and checks stock drugs for nursing units and departments.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge and continuing education for licensure.
• Answers phone inquiries and provides general and patient data as appropriate.
