California Correctional Health Care Services at Avenal State Prison seeks a part-time Optometrist to perform eye examinations, determine visual acuity, focus and coordination, and diagnose diseases or abnormalities to support incarcerated patients in a safe, humane environment. This 20-hour-per-week position offers a monthly salary range of $3,891.50 to $5,159.50.

Effective July 1, 2025, PLP 2025 reduces base pay by 3% and provides 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027.

Qualifications

• Examination of the eye to determine visual acuity and perception.
• Diagnosis of diseases or abnormalities in the eye.
