A local eye care provider in Escondido, California, is seeking a part-time and/or fill-in Optometrist. Join a dedicated team focused on providing comprehensive eye care. Responsibilities include performing eye exams and educating patients on eye health. Candidates need an active California Optometry license, TPA certification, and Spanish language skills. Competitive compensation ranges from $55 to $65 per hour, with additional employee discounts and paid time off. Flexible fill-in schedules available in May and July 2026.

Our practice emphasizes thorough patient-centered care; taking the time to educate patients about their symptoms, treatment options, and long-term eye health. We’re especially passionate about prevention, including guidance on protective eyewear like sunglasses and blue-light lenses. We capture retinal images and OCT’s on every single patient.

You’ll work alongside a dedicated team and have access to modern diagnostic equipment, including Optos with OCT, autorefractors, digital lensometer, FDT visual field, slit lamp, phoropter, and BIO. Patients also benefit from a curated optical selection, on-site lab, and access to eye drops and vitamins for their visual needs.

What You’ll Do

• Perform comprehensive eye exams and contact lens evaluations
• Provide medical and emergency eye care
• See an average of 10 patients per day
• Educate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and prevention
  
  

Part-time Schedule

• 3 Saturdays/month
  
  

Fill-in Schedule for May 18 to 22, 2026

• Monday & Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (1-hour break at 1:00 PM)
• Wednesday & Thursday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM (1-hour break at 3:00 PM)
• Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour break at 1:00 PM)

Fill-in Schedule for July 9 to 17, 2026

Minimum Qualifications

• California Optometry license

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive pay: $55–$65/hour (based on performance)
• Paid Time Off: 24 hours annually (accrual begins after 30 days; usable after 3 months)
