Job summary

Family Eye Physicians in Chicago is seeking a dedicated Optometrist to deliver comprehensive primary eye care with strong diagnostic skills and a commitment to patient experience.

The position involves performing eye exams, prescribing medications, providing pre- and post-operative care for procedures like cataracts and laser vision correction, interpreting test results, and handling emergency eye exams. A collaborative support team helps minimize practice-management duties.

Qualifications

• Examines eyes, using observation, instruments and pharmaceuticals, to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities.
• Prescribes medications to treat eye diseases, removes foreign bodies from the eye, and analyzes test results and develops appropriate treatment plans.
• Prescribes therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision
• Provides patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction, with pre- and post-operative care.
• Interprets diagnostic tests ordered and explains results to patients.
• Conducts emergency patient examinations

• Experience with maintaining quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
• Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
• Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
• Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with patients of all ages.
• Strong organization with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated computer literacy.
• Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
• Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD) from an Accredited School of Optometry
• State Licensed or will be licensed to practice Optometry (New Graduates) in the State of Illinois
