Job summary

America’s Best, part of National Vision, is seeking a part-time Optometric Technician – Medical Assistant. The role includes pre-screenings, testing, and assisting the optometrist. Training provided; Sundays off; schedule Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat.

Paid hourly with benefits and opportunities for growth within National Vision. No optical experience required, but a strong patient-facing presence is essential.

Qualifications

• No optical experience required; training provided.
• Must be available to work Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
• Previous retail/optical experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to learn optical knowledge.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of the doctor's office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology and diseases and know ocular abbreviations.
• Explain to patients the types of preliminary examinations.
• Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing prior to the doctor examination.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and patient information carefully; identify special needs; consult with the optician, Doctor or Retail Management when necessary.
• Ensure equipment, both Doctor's and pre-test, is properly maintained.
