Job summary

Flint Cultural Center Corporation is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to perform high-quality cleaning across facilities on the Flint Cultural Center Campus. The role reports to the Custodial Supervisor – Facilities Department and requires adherence to safety and cleaning procedures.

The position is non-exempt and offers partial benefits for part-timers. Typical duties include restroom sanitation, floor care, trash removal, and event setup, with hours including evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Evidence of stable education and/or work history.
• Prior experience as a custodian or in the cleaning field is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrate the ability to properly perform the above duties.
• Ability to interact with the public in a pleasant manner while performing job related duties.
• Ability to follow proper cleaning procedures and safety issues in cleaning human fluids and other hazardous materials.
• Ability to use cleaning products and chemicals and follow safety procedures.
• Understand the importance of collections and artifacts: will not clean and or move any artifact or enter collection spaces without the consent of the Curator of Collections or their staff.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to remain on feet for prolonged periods of time.
• Regular and prompt attendance at work.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms and common areas.
• Dust furniture, walls, equipment, and surfaces.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and partitions.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors.
• Collect and dispose of trash daily.
• Set up and tear down for activities and events.
• Follow safety procedures for chemicals and equipment.
• Assist with loading/unloading of supplies as needed.
• Report safety concerns to supervisor.
• Adhere to cleaning checklists and schedules.
