Job summary

Southwestern College is seeking part-time instructors to teach listed Music courses across multiple campuses and modalities. Applicants should indicate which course(s) they can teach and be prepared for online DEFT certification if assigned to online sections.

Degrees required include Master’s in music or Bachelor’s in music with a Master’s in humanities, or the equivalent. Foreign degrees may require evaluation by a NACES member.

Qualifications

• Master’s in music or Bachelor’s in music combined with Master’s in humanities, or equivalent.
• Foreign degree evaluation may be required by NACES member professional association; submit evaluation with application.

Responsibilities

• Teach the listed Music courses (Jazz Performance Workshop, Jazz Ensemble I-Big Band, Introduction to Improvisation, Brass Wood Percussion Instrumental, Introduction to Music).
• Deliver instruction across multiple campuses and modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
• Assist with DEFT certification for online courses or provide alternative district-approved Distance Education training.

Job description

Applications for Part-Time Instructor pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District. They will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Should you be invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a District representative.

Southwestern College is looking to hire a part-time instructor to teach the following Music courses:

• Jazz Performance Workshop
• Jazz Ensemble I-Big Band
• Introduction to Improvisation
• Brass Wood Percussion Instrumental
• Introduction to Music

Please specify which course(s) you would be comfortable teaching in the application.

Lecture Classes may be offered at multiple campuses and in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online). If a course is offered online, completion of a 5-week Distance Education Faculty Training (DEFT) certification will be required prior to staffing (compensation available); or proof of a District approved Distance Education training course may be accepted in lieu of DEFT. Additional assessment is required for applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States.
