Job summary

Youth Impact Incorporated in Ogden, Utah seeks a dedicated mentor to provide positive guidance to at risk youth, modeling healthy relationships and helping them stay engaged with education and community.

Job description

Job Summary

Provide positive mentorship to at risk youth by modeling healthy, trusting relationships through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries. Help youth understand the importance of education, healthy relationships, finding a sense of self, and giving back to the community while providing the tools, guidance, support and feedback needed to thrive. Finally, a Youth Impact Mentor must be encouraging and engaging for children and will maintain the integrity of Youth Impact’s mission and goals demonstrating values at all times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Youth Engagement:
    • Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance and role modeling
    • Provide a safe environment for youth, supervision, interacting with youth
    • Continually interact with youth by providing motivation and encouragement
    • Plan engaging activities
    • Work in high energy, loud and active setting with large group of youth
    • Mentor/teach cleanup groups
  • Case Management:
    • Analyze grades
    • Work closely with Child and Family Advocate
    • Work with and build positive relationship with family
    • Maintain case files
    • Address student/staff conflicts in a respectable timely manner
  • Program Duties:
    • Pick up youth from school and transport to program
    • Understand grants and how to apply them to a certain areas
    • Provide transportation from program to home
    • Assist with meals and snack time
    • Participate in monthly trainings and weekly staff meetings
    • Participate in any additional program needs as required
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Leadership:
    • Train new mentors
    • Support fellow mentors
    • Be flexible and ready to fill in where needed
    • Communicate in a positive way with other staff and participants
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working with youth preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements
  • Previous experience working with at risk youth or disadvantaged clients
  • Independent and take initiative
  • Know the meaning of being a mentor at work and in life
  • Confident working with and tutoring youth
  • Responsible , present, purposeful and positive
  • Associates or some college preferred
  • Drivers License and clean driving record
  • Pass a background check
  • Ability to put aside biases and personal background
  • Maintain professional boundaries with participants
