Job summary

QualDerm Partners in Martinsville, VA is seeking a Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our clinical team and support patient care three days per week. You’ll prepare patients for exams, assist physicians, perform basic tests, and help with appointments in a dermatology-focused setting.

You will maintain accurate records in EHRs, educate patients on skincare plans, and contribute to a collaborative clinic environment emphasizing confidentiality and exceptional service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of dermatology terminology and patient care typical for dermatology clinics.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical history.
• Assist the physician during examinations and procedures, ensuring instruments are ready.
• Perform basic lab tests and prepare specimens for analysis.
• Maintain patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage office communications.
• Educate patients on treatment plans and skincare practices.
• Ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and stocked.

• Ensure the examination rooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked with supplies
• May participate in supporting the clinic's social media presence, including gathering content, sharing clinic-approved updates, and assisting with community engagement efforts as directed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medical Assistant preferred
• Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role in a clinical setting
• Knowledge of medical terminology and practices relevant to dermatology
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients and staff effectively
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Basic proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and general office software

Compensation Range:

$18.50 - $23.81 per hour. Final offer will be based on a combination of skills, experience, location, and internal equity.
