Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Medical Specialties department in Auburn, MA. The role is 20 hours per week, 4 days a week, 8am-1pm with Wednesdays off, performing full medical support services and ensuring high patient care and satisfaction.

Responsibilities include room setup, vital signs, phlebotomy, immunizations, EMR documentation, and assisting with minor procedures. A technical certification or EMT/MA training and CMA/CCMA credentials are preferred; EPIC

Qualifications

• Technical certification or 1+ years of experience as Medical Assistant or EMT.
• Enrollment in an accredited Medical Assistant program or EMT certification.

• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment & instruments.
• Room patients, obtain health history and check vital signs.
• Document patient care using electronic medical records software (EPIC).
• Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis, and handle patient specimen samples.
• Administer medications and perform injections/immunizations.
• Assist providers with minor in-office procedures and perform point-of-care testing.

This position performs a full range of medical support services while ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment & instruments
• Room patients, obtain health history and check vital signs
• Document patient care using electronic medical records software
• Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis, and handle patient specimen samples
• Administer medications and perform injections/immunizations
• Assist providers with minor, in-office procedures and perform point-of-care testing

Required Qualifications

• Technical certification or 1+ years of experience performing the critical skills of a Medical Assistant after on-the-job training OR current enrollment in an accredited Medical Assistant program OR EMT certification
• Experience working as a Medical Assistant or EMT

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, RMA and CMAC)
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR) or completed within 90 days of date of hire
• Experience with electronic medical records software (EPIC)
• Experience performing medical back-office tasks including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis and administering medications
