Job summary

Mathnasium of Downtown Silver Spring is seeking a part-time Math Instructor/Tutor to deliver engaging math instruction using the Mathnasium Method. You will help 1st–12th grade students build confidence and mastery in math in a friendly, supportive environment.

We offer after-school and weekend hours, a collaborative team setting, ongoing training, and all necessary curriculum and tools. Join us to inspire a love of math while developing teaching skills in a flexible, rewarding role.

Qualifications

• Passion for math and working with students
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and engage students
• Willingness to complete approximately 20 hours of training within one month of hire
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and document student work while giving constructive feedback
• Professional demeanor and effective communication with students, parents and co-workers
• Availability to work a minimum of 6-10 hours across at least two shifts during the week and one weekend shift

Responsibilities

• Use the Mathnasium Method and teaching constructs
• Maintain good availability to work at Mathnasium and provide accurate scheduling information
• Strive to become a great instructor
• Attend staff meetings approximately every 4-6 weeks outside instructional hours
• Teach students in a way that makes sense to them
• Be encouraging and provide constructive feedback to bolster confidence
• Support administrative tasks and help maintain center cleanliness and order
