Job summary

Saga Education is hiring part-time Math Tutors to work in-person with middle school students at Western Heights Middle School in Hagerstown, MD. Tutors provide high-dosage, high-impact tutoring and use Saga’s curriculum to drive student growth.

Expect to manage a small caseload, develop plans, track progress, and build supportive relationships with students and staff, while engaging in ongoing professional development and school collaboration.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. 50 states during background screening and while working as a Tutor.
  • Age 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must clear a Criminal History Check and other security/health requirements before start of training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily math tutoring to your assigned caseload of middle school students for multiple class periods.
  • Develop lesson plans and prep for tutoring sessions using Saga Curriculum.
  • Manage input and analysis of student data to differentiate instruction and adapt lessons.
  • Maintain attendance records, monitor student progress and provide feedback.
  • Navigate technology hardware and software and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Develop student incentives, trackers, and recognition activities.
  • Communicate daily via email and Slack; coordinate with Client Relationship Manager and Director of District Partnerships.
  • Participate in observation/feedback sessions and ongoing professional development.
  • Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and the community.
  • Support additional duties as assigned by supervisors and school site.

Compensation

  • $21/hour
  • $500 Relocation Assistance for those relocating over 50 miles

Our Math Tutors are selected from a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds across the United States to support our students in mathematics; each tutor brings their unique skill set to assist students’ success. We seek talented, caring, and capable people committed to supporting our students in their academic and social development.

What You’ll Do

Saga Education’s Math Tutors manage a small caseload of middle school students and promote academic success by focusing intently on providing high-dosage, high-impact tutoring that includes daily individualized instruction to students. During a typical school day, tutors will work in-person with students during multiple class periods and facilitate lessons. Tutors will implement Saga’s proprietary curriculum to foster academic success and help students reach their goals. In addition to offering academic support, our math tutors will serve as advocates and mentors, building strong, meaningful relationships with their students. Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Provide daily math tutoring to your assigned caseload of students for multiple class periods
  • Develop lesson plans and prep for tutoring sessions using Saga Curriculum
  • Manage the input and analysis of student data to differentiate math instruction for your students and adapt lesson plans as needed
  • Maintain attendance records, monitor student academic progress and provide feedback
  • Navigate varying technology, both hardware and software, and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise
  • Develop student incentives, trackers, and support with celebrations, awards and recognition
  • Proactively check and respond to emails and Slack daily, and regularly consult with your Client Relationship Manager or Director of District Partnerships
  • Participate in observation and feedback sessions with your Client Relationship Manager, Director of District Partnerships or school-based support staff, as well as weekly reflections and professional development for continuous growth
  • Build strong relationships with students to set expectations and manage behavior effectively
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, other staff and the community
  • Engage and assist with other duties as assigned by your Client Relationship Manager and school site
  • Maintain ongoing communication with classroom teachers and attend planning sessions with the school as directed

Qualifications
  • You are a U.S. citizen residing within the U.S. 50 states during the background screening, onboarding processes, and while you work as a Tutor with Saga
  • You are age 18 or over with a high school diploma or GED
  • You must clear a Criminal History Check, and all other security and health requirements set forth by Saga Education and the school district in which you serve before the start of training
