Job summary

Description

The Lunchroom Coordinator fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by managing the school cafeteria and milk program within the framework of the school’s philosophy and organization and within the guidelines established by the school. The coordinator provides supervision of students in the lunchroom according to the school lunch schedule. The Lunchroom Coordinator has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions in keeping with school policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The duties of the Elementary School Teacher will include but are not limited to:

General:
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
  • Ensures that milk cooler and cleaning supplies meet Colorado State and Denver County Health Department guidelines
  • Maintains accurate inventory of milk, supplies, and collaborates with administrative assistant regarding supplies needed
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Ensures that all staff and children are respectful of school property
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure eating and work environment;
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
  • Follows established procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of students.
  • Works in a team environment and encourages open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents and co-workers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the school principal.
Before Lunch:
  • sets up microphone/walkie-talkie, cleaning supplies, trash cans and condiments cart before lunch
  • puts out milk for students for each lunch session
During Lunch:
  • Supervises daily distribution of milk to students
  • Refreshes cleaning supplies in between lunch periods
  • Supervises students in the serving area with regard to safety and behavior and collaborates with teacher/staff member on duty
After Lunch:
  • returns milk/crates to the refrigerator
  • return microphone/walkie-talkie to school office after lunch periods, refresh batteries as needed
  • empty dishwashing tub and place rags in the washing machine
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma
  • Compliance with Safe Environment requirements.
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals;
  • Effective supervisory skills;
  • Effective listening and verbal communication skills;
  • Must have understanding of child development skills necessary to relate to the students being supervised
  • Must have appropriate control and discipline techniques to successfully manage a room;
  • Must work cooperatively with school staff and administration;
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures;
  • Positive references and recommendations;
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
SALARY DESCRIPTION:
  • Determined by education level and years of experience
  • Range - $18-25/hr
