Job summary

Jeff Rouse Swim & Sports Center in Stafford, Virginia, is seeking a Lifeguard (PT, non-exempt) to maintain a safe swim environment, enforce all pool rules, and respond to emergencies. The role reports to Aquatics staff and requires vigilance in surveillance, swift action in emergencies, and teamwork with teammates.

The ideal candidate will hold current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications, be at least 16 years old, and be able to work a part-time, on-site schedule in a busy aquatic

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older to apply.
• Scan surveillance areas to ensure safety of all patrons.
• Act in emergency situations and provide appropriate care.
• Maintain order in swimming areas.
• Able to perform Lifeguard pretest every 6 months to maintain employment.
• Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
• Communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing.
• Hold Lifeguarding (American Red Cross or Ellis), CPR/AED, First Aid certificates.

Responsibilities

• Enforce pool rules and ensure patron safety.
• Respond to emergencies and provide necessary care.
• Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in pool areas.
• Perform lifeguard pretests to remain employed.
• Monitor and record chemical levels as scheduled.
• Complete any required accident/incident reports.
• Work in a wet pool environment and communicate with staff.
