Position Overview

Job No: 555960 – Instructional Faculty, Temporary/Lecturer. Location: Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo Campus. Work Type: Part‑time lecturer pool for the World Languages & Cultures Department, College of Liberal Arts. Positions will be filled as needed during the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2026‑2027 academic year, starting August 17, 2026.

Applicants must be available with short notice, as appointments are typically made just prior to the semester start. All appointments made from this recruitment are temporary and part‑time.

The assigned courses may include Elementary or intermediate French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin (Traditional Characters), and/or Spanish. Qualified candidates may also teach advanced Spanish or sub‑topic classes (e.g., Latin America, Mexico, China, Italy) for the writing‑intensive, upper‑division General Education course "Humanities in World Cultures," taught in English.

Salary

Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background, with most new lecturers hired at Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, salary ranges are:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
• Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
• Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
• Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,221
